Changing The Look

By Ben

This topic is mainly focused on small but crucial factors in presentation, which is the UI and menus. At the moment in my opinion they look bland and don't bring any excitement when looking at them, especially the main menu. Which is why I have implemented an animated background, there will be an option to disable it in case you either don't like it or it doesn't run well in the future, at the moment it only shows 25 seconds of the trailer

Bandits and Persistance

By Ben

Bandits, who likes them? Even if you consider yourself a bandit you will despise others. Competition is always a problem which is why we are trying to focus on making Bandits more fun! When they aren't putting lead into your body I guess. I am working on making bandits more 'Human', by this I mean they won't have infinite ammo and just spray a thousand rounds of ammunition at you or magically have 50 bandages to make sure you can't track them, instead they will actually loot around either in groups or on their own...

Looting, How It Will Work

By Ben

Hello and welcome to another post, I'm trying out a new style with the posts because why not? This post we will be covering Looting and what changes there will be to the old system. Currently loot on the ground is not random but the loot found in different objects such as wardrobes and vehicles are, of course this has to change so they will both be random, to an extent...

Xbox One Development

By Ben

As seen in the Title we currently have permission to develop New Outbreak for Xbox One! This is something quite big and is going to allow us to experiment more with New Outbreak...

Follow The Trail!....Of Blood?

By Ben

Hello! One huge addition that I'm working on bringing to New Outbreak is the importance of bandaging yourself, currently when you are attacked by a zombie you have a chance of bleeding which, if not bandaged, will drip onto the floor and leave a trail to exactly where you are...

NewOutbreak Art Style

By Ben

Welcome to another Mini New Outbreak post! Today's topic, Art Style! We are currently aiming to keep the game's style as it is now though we are going to make some minor changes to suit the gameplay. One big thing is aging, yourself and everything else will age over time, we aren't sure how long this may take but it will be a gradual process where vines slowly creep up walls and things begin to decay...

Tactical Looting

By Ben

A weird title I'll admit but it holds very big importance, one thing we discussed last time was bandits and how they act, one of those things was that they would loot actual locations in order to get ammo and other supplies. This therefore not only means that scavengers will leave at certain times to loot but that you can limit the supplies that they can get from places by taking them yourselves or leave certain things there yourself...

NewOutbreak Map Creator

By Ben

Hello! So a Map Creator? Yes, but it's not currently something that you can use in game. At the moment the map editor is a gamemaker file with only the tiles, I will add objects you can add to show where you want stuff placed, to the game which you can use to build the layout of the map which is what we did to make the NewOutbreak map...

New Outbreak Progression (Skills)

By Ben

Hello and welcome to another New Outbreak post! Today's topic: Progression! One thing that is currently present in the pre-alpha version are skills, these skills allow you to do certain things and you can upgrade them. They will not be present in the final release of New Outbreak. Why? Because that's not how survival works, you don't kill Zombies to learn to build a certain barricade or weapon...
